What is Radon Mitigation and how does it work?
Radon mitigation is a system that pulls radioactive radon gas from under your home's foundation and vents it safely above the roofline, so it never builds up inside your living space.
Radon is an invisible, odorless gas that comes from uranium breaking down in the soil. It seeps through cracks in your foundation, slab, or crawlspace. Once inside, it can concentrate to levels that pose a real health risk. Mitigation stops that.
The core of the system is a fan, usually mounted in your attic or outside the house. That fan creates a vacuum under the slab or under a vapor barrier in a crawlspace. A PVC pipe runs from that suction point, through the fan, and up past your roofline. The gas never enters your home's air.
